Age Defying Makeup For The Middle-Stage

I am no makeup artist and I am really not very experienced at putting makeup on in general. I usually wear moisturizer, under eye concealer (seems like I need more and more every day) and mascara. That's the extent of it. But, when my college roommates dragged me to a Jones Road Beauty shop in NYC for a make over, I was totally sold on the amazingness of it!!

I hadn't heard of Jones Road Beauty but it turns out that it's a newer brand from the legend Bobbi Brown (makeup artist and guru) AND it's made for mature skin like ours! We know that the makeup we wore in our 20s and 30s just doesn't work anymore - traditional products sit in our wrinkles, often look cakey, and don't cover up the redness or dark spots that we can have as we age. Jones Road Beauty combines skincare and makeup into one to color correct, smooth lines, and add moisture to the skin (with a little glow as a bonus). It's makeup for the Middle-Stage!

Gone are the days of long skincare and makeup routines! Jones Road Beauty products are multitaskers so that one product can work as a moisturizer, blush, highlighter, bronzer and lipstick. Who doesn't want a faster, easier morning routine?

I gushed on and on about the amazing products I tried in NYC but Trish and Marty wanted proof so, we did a little make over. After they saw the results, they were ALL IN!! (See the before and after pics below.)

To apply products, I just patted with the tip of my finger, but you can use whatever tools you like. Here is what we tried on Trish:

Tinted Moisturizer - Super light weight and silky smooth, this moisturizer has just enough tint to cover imperfections without looking like foundation. It blends beautifully into the skin, evens out your skin tone and has Jojoba Oil and Sodium Hyaluronate so your skin is soft and fresh looking. And it smells AMAZING!

It comes in a bunch of colors - we used Beige

Brow Pencil - With a subtle enhancement of the eyebrows, you will not look like a woman of the 1950s with those totally drawn-on, arched brows! This smooth, controllable pencil integrates tiny, hairlike fibers to add dimension and fullness. Use can use it to get fluffier looking brows, extend and define, or just fill in bare patches. Its totally waterproof too. It comes in several shades - we used Light Brunette.

Neutralizer Pencil - How do you cover those darn dark circles under the eyes? - with the Neutralizer Pencil! This creamy yet dense concealer is formulated with a clear base to prevent chalky undertones and it doesn't sit in lines and wrinkles. Shades range in hues of peaches and pinks to fully cancel darkness under the eyes and anywhere on the face (even dark sun spots). We used Light Peach and put it in a bunch of different places on Trish's face to cover blemishes and even out darker areas.

Miracle Balm - They were not kidding when they named this! This is the secret of no-makeup makeup: a wash of soft, shimmery moisture to perfect and enhance skin. A light-reflecting super-product that’s as versatile as it is simple to use. You can use this as blush, highlighter, bronzer, eyeshadow, lipstick, or really anywhere. Don't be fooled by the dark/bright colors, Miracle Balm goes on sheer and dewey. If you want a brighter/darker look, just layer it and keep applying until you get the shade you want. We used Tawny on Trish but there is a whole palette of colors to choose from: Golden Hour, Pinched Cheeks, Au Naturel, Happy Hour, Golden Hour, Dusty Rose, Flushed, Miami Beach, Bronze, and Sunkissed.

There are other great products by Jones Road Beauty that I tried in the store but didn't buy. These were some of my other favs - The Mascara, Brow Gel, Just a Sec Eyeshadow (amazing shades), Shimmer Face Oil and the Miracle Cream.
