Fall Fashion Shopping Do's/Don'ts

Is the thought of heading out to do your fall fashion wardrobe shopping a non-starter for you?

Does the image of packed stores, crowded racks and pushy salespeople make you want to stay home and order your clothes from Amazon?

If you find shopping a daunting prospect, here are some tips to help make it easier:

• Be rested, eat first and take a water bottle

• Go alone. Friends mean well, but can make disastrous recommendations

• Look nice. If you feel scroungy, anything you try won’t be appealing and it’ll be easy to give up

• Don’t censure yourself. You’re already in the fitting room, go ahead and try it on, even if it’s something that’s out of your comfort zone

• If you see something that intrigues you, try it on before you talk yourself out of it

• Try on your purchases once you get home to make sure you love them

• Take photos in the outfits you put together in the store and those you try on once you get home.

• Look for pieces in your current wardrobe that will go with what you bought.

• Resist the urge to leave those bags in the back seat for a week!

Seems like a lot to keep track of? It is! That’s why a stylist comes in handy. As a local KC wardrobe stylist to men and women, I know where the best merchandise is, how to source all kinds of sizes, colors and unique garments. I am on a first-name basis with most of the key sales people and boutiques in town.

As a stylist I have very high personal standards and I want my clients to as well. After all, your style matters in all you do every single day. How you feel, how others relate to you and how you’re perceived.

If you’re interested in making the curation of your fall wardrobe easy this year, reach out! I’d be delighted to help.
