Grout Cleaning Products

Anyone else feel like your house needs a little deep cleaning as we move into spring? With the arrival of this vibrant season, it often inspires a sense of renewal and a desire to refresh our living spaces. As I look around my home, one of the highest traffic areas that has not received a ton of attention is undoubtedly the tile and grout in my laundry room. This space is not only functional but also serves as a hub of activity, especially with my dogs having their water and food bowls set up in this area. Given the constant movement and the occasional spills, it has become quite evident that a thorough cleaning is long overdue. In my quest for cleanliness, I wanted to ensure that I could achieve a deep clean without resorting to harmful chemicals that could pose a risk to my pets or the environment. After some research, I stumbled upon a solution that claims to effectively brighten and whiten tile surfaces without the use of bleaches or other harsh substances that could potentially damage the materials or leave behind toxic residues. Intrigued by the promise of a safe and effective cleaning method, I decided to give it a try.

The process of deep cleaning the tile and grout is not just about aesthetics; it’s also about maintaining a healthy environment for my family and pets. Grime and dirt can accumulate over time, leading to unsightly stains and possibly even bacteria growth in the porous grout lines. Therefore, I was eager to see if this new cleaning solution could tackle the stubborn dirt that had settled in. Armed with my new cleaning product and a few essential tools, I prepared to dive into this cleaning project, excited at the prospect of transforming my laundry room into a brighter, fresher space.

Items You will Need:

For Solution: Combine 7 cups of water with 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/3 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup vinegar. Pour into a spray bottle.

Spray solution onto the tile grout lines and let sit for several minutes (I set a timer for about 10 minutes as my grout was pretty dirty. Then scrub the grout with a brush. I did repeat the process as, again, my tile needed it.

Mop the floors well. Side note: If you need a new mop, I highly recommend a spin mop (listed above) - they do such a good job and love that most come with several mop heads. I made the mistake of wiping the tiles down but did not really mop the area after I was done. The baking soda in the solution will leave a residue that you/your dogs can track all over your house (coming from a voice of experience here!). I would recommend mopping at least once - maybe changing out the water and mopping a second time to be sure that all of the solution has been removed.

Be sure to allow the grout to fully dry before you judge. I was eager to see if it was working and felt like it was a fail until I walked away for about 30 minutes to return to the tile looking significantly whiter and brighter! Give it a try and let us know how it works on your tile.
