Knee Pain

knee pain

Almost everyone at some point in their life has experienced knee pain. One of the most common things I see in the clinic is patellar chondromalacia (kneecap pain) in females ages 40-60. And I hear that is The Hive’s target audience! So let’s dive into this topic. Patella chondromalacia is changes of the cartilage/bone structure of the kneecap. When the surface of the bones change, the kneecap does not glide in its groove smoothly during bending and straightening of the knee, leading to crepitus (crackling sounds) and sometimes pain. You know - that grinding in your knee during squats and stairs. Though we cannot reverse the changes in the bone structure, we can change the tension, strength, flexibility of the soft tissue surrounding the patella which can improve the biomechanics of the patellar (kneecap) glide. These exercises will address both knee strength and flexibility; however, since the hip and knee are connected with muscles and fascial structures, we must address the hip strength and flexibility as well.

Perform these 2-3x/week for 8 weeks and notice the change in your knee pain and leg strength!
