Who doesn’t love to receive an unexpected care package?  There are so many occasions/excuses to give them, but one of the easiest is for Valentine’s Day.  Whether sending to your child at college, your grandchild in another state, a niece or nephew, your sibling or a friend, the possibilities of items to include are endless. Recently a group of friends and I got together to create some cute boxes for our college-aged daughters.  We set a budget and agreed to bring at least 8 items of the same thing to the "packing party” and texted what we were bringing so we didn’t get duplicates.

The lovely hostess got some flat-rate shipping boxes from the post office (you pay the same rate no matter how heavy the box).  We laid out piles of all the items around a table and explained what we brought and how to pick for each box (like quantity, variety, etc).  It was so fun to see the creative ideas of what everyone brought! Some of the items were: heart pens & pads, bracelets, heart necklaces, drink mixes, cute pajama shorts, hair clips, car scent diffusers, lip gloss, patterned socks, temporary tattoos, diamond painting bookmarks and of course, some candy!  More ideas (that we have used in past boxes) are: shower steamers, mini squishmallows, Laneige lip mask, shower quotes, ice rollers, face washing cuffs/headbands, crossbody bags, stickers, chocolate. . .as I said before – the possibilities are endless!

Your “party” can be as simple or as elaborate as you want. . .our hostess with the most-est offered us cocktails and bite-size delicious treats.  We decorated the box flaps with Valentine’s Day paper and stickers; you could also use paint, markers or any art supplies to personalize as you wish!  Include a card and your recipient’s favorite snacks, too. Adjust the contents of your boxes according to the giftee and occasion.  You can do this for any holiday or season, get well, thinking of you, good luck, or no reason at all:)

This is a fun activity to do with a small group but it’s also very easy to create and send a care package by yourself anytime to make someone’s day (and your own) just a little brighter!
