Punch Up Your Style to beat away the winter blahs!

Feeling stale in your style?

February can feel like the dim bulb of all the months. You’re not past the worst of winter yet, according to the groundhog, and March is endless! Plus, spring clothes haven’t hit the stores quite yet. Your closet feels like one big yawn.

How can you punch things up? Here’s some foolproof tips I use to help my clients feel fresh with what they already own or with a minimal purchase.

• Pull out some of your holiday sparkles and pair a sequined garment like a skirt or pants with an oversized sweater or a turtleneck and a denim jacket.

• Re-organize your closet by color. Make sections with items from each color you own. When you rearrange your closet, you see new outfit combinations you wouldn’t have thought of before.

• Go to your local drugstore and pour through some fresh spring fashion mags. Nothing like some visuals to spark your creative curation skills.

• Make a poster or vision board of looks you like and you think might look good on you. So when you do go shopping, you have an idea of what you need, rather than waiting for inspiration to hit in a crowded mall or store.

• Grab your light ring and snap some selfies in fun outfits. It might feel awkward at first, but it never fails to revive me. Also, viewing yourself in photos helps you see what does and — possibly doesn’t, look great.

• Go online to source some inexpensive jewelry or accessories. You can purchase very nice packs of inexpensive earrings on Amazon that will give your outfits some fresh pizzazz for not much cash.

Start planning your spring shopping now. Do an inventory of your closet and make a list of things you think you’ll need. Be realistic, if you keep passing over those twelve pair of black pants that haven’t fit for several years, this might be the year to let them go and open up your space for fresh, new comfortable clothing.
